snails work on my tanks. or plecostomus.. even though you didnt ask meCentra. I have some 300 gallon tanks connected to the downspouts on the chicken coops. There are some guppies in the tanks and water plants. Any suggestions for controlling algae that won't harm the fish or plants?
Thanks! I thought about snails but wasn't sure that would be enough. I just asked Centra because of his profession and he posted about his outdoor tanks...snails work on my tanks. or plecostomus.. even though you didnt ask me
The tanks are the IBC totes with the tops cut off. Not the best, as the plastic is translucent.I know he is an expert. I dont deal with cold weather.
The snails might clog up the pipes though if not screened.
Usually if the tank is dark and no light entering you shouldnt have problem with algae. but Im not an expert.
having duckweed floating on top really helps. and its great fodder for chickens. The tanks are the IBC totes with the tops cut off. Not the best, as the plastic is translucent.
