No problematic hawk action this year at all. Even Coopers that come in almost daily minding their own business. Owls are brewing to be something different as juveniles around pens all night long each night for last week. If past years with it, they will be my "buddies" through November.

I have been waiting for them. They are around, but have not bothered the birds so far this year. The stags were out in the open, so easy to spot.

Hen I figured for dead, came in from the creek with 10 babies yesterday

The birds were making a fuss again, so I walked back again. No hawk, but I looked around a little more closely. I found a quail size stag in one of the pens, dead under the nest bucket. He was all torn up and missing a leg. My guess, is that he was the initial target this morning but somehow managed to drag himself into the pen.

I doubt it. I close up the birds every night and let them out during the day. They were very fresh wounds on the little guy.

Never seen a hawk rip off a leg
