Yeah they covered after dark. The parish ( county for everyone else ) spray the ditches, have the trucks fogging the streets and the planes come.over once a week and freak the chickens out

jackpot!

I saw on the news and trending on FB about the red river, it is way up how far away from it do you live flypen
I'm about 7 miles (straight line) from the river but my place is above and beyond any flooding. The only thing that hits me hard is the run off during the rain.

this is a aerial shot of the river yesterday from a helicopter, there is a lot of homes that are under water not to mention pets, cows, horses, and other animals.

Anyone taken the time to go out an look at birds on the roost to look for mosquitoes. A lot of the feed I provide goes into replacing blood,

I have them so bad you can't stay out there after dark, standing water and 3 ponds is the main problem allowing them to multiply. The Parrish use to send their spray trucks down this way but I haven't seen or heard one.

I just called the vet Dr. that my nephew got his greys from he said to treat the area with iodine and if there is any bumps in her mouth to put Listerine on that with a q-tip. This will stop any infection from getting in her throat. The q-tip will help remove any of the loose stuff also.
I have one I am probably going to loose to fowl pox, its the worse I have ever seen; eyes are close shut and ears are swollen... My blacks are very susceptible to getting it bad for some reason. I have this one separated and it hasn't eaten in 3-4 days.

I will try using the iodine and Listerine. I couldn't find any info on how to bring down the swelling, so I just tried to use Neosporin. didn't work.

I have never had the pleasure of fowl pox but do have experience feeding blinded birds. Confine effected bird over some sort of wood chips. Provide feed that is moistened and smelly in a bowl. Intact grains they can detect by mouth feel helps. They do have at least some ability to smell but make so well ventilated so they can follow concentration gradient easier.
