Thanks guys. It rained hard all d*mn day here again. My yard is flooded in the back. I haven't checked on the birds yet. My guess is I got a few mud balls. Way beyond ridiculous now.

I swear I just spent 5 minutes with my hand under soupy mud digging around for a feed cup. I look up and there it is over on the other side. It's usually where I was looking.Wheat straw, lots of wheat straw
Yeah that's exactly what I do. There is no other way to do it I don't think. There's a few pens in the back corner where I need to wait for the water to recede a little. I don't leave them muddy if I can help it. I usually just add a little for a day or so to keep their feet dry then I go back and depending on the pen clean it all out or just add more straw.Watch cause the problems I've had was from them walking it would just stay like soup u may not be able to let it dry u may have to put the straw in to get them above the Mud and they will pack it down then add another layer. I've had my fair share of that
I usually keep one bale for nesting boxes and what not.. Keep it in a big green waste bin (I have extras). then I just wheel the bin over to the coops and drop in handfuls.. saves a lot of mess.So what's that 8 bales then however many for the slop u gonna make walking back and forth to put the pen bales in
