yeah i had here in a stall right next to another Murphy hen that was sitting she killed 1 chick before i moved her i pray that these make it with all this rain and hot weather  ill let her free range after this so she can have a good molt and get all that good grass i like to let most of my hens out during the molt nothing beats green grass....

Anyone on here from the Big Island in Hawaii? I just spent a few days on the Big Island for work and enjoyed seeing all of the "Gamefowl". There were fowl all over, even as I was driving out of the airport, there was a pair just scratching under the palm trees. I noticed plenty of others as I drove around, usually, just pairs of reds and some greys as well as some dark looking birds. At one point, I stopped for gas off the beaten path and heard the distinct crow of gamefowl. I turned around to see blue barrels right across the road in someones front yard. It was a sight to see!

If you saw what I think you saw then best to categorize those birds as feral dunghills and likely to no longer meet criteria of a gamefowl based on measure of gameness. They likely contain recent non-gamefowl ancestry. It would take a considerable selection to restore gameness.
 
Centrarchid, I don't doubt that about the feral birds. Still beautiful birds with "gamefowl" appearance.

2014 black hen feeling rowdy ... She did the shuffle dance towards this stag and then stood there puffed up waiting for a challenge (which never came, he backed off)...
