Yep we open carry, stand your ground I have tracer and about to order some starburst for the ar just cause I can. And the firearm dealer I shop at has the suppressor paperwork right on the counter. But if you don't like the heat you would hate it.
I would have to learn to wear shorts, have only been to La once in sept and it was Hot!! i have never felt humidity like that. Half my family is from Texas so I'm only half hippy.

I no longer have the time to sit out with a rifle because I have to be a daddy to little ones. Can be fun to see what goes on but when need greatest I either freeze my tuckuss off or get eaten by skeeters and ticks. Have gotten see some pretty cool stuff like how fox tries to work isolated pens and how Great-horned Owls do their business. I have actually used rifle more to protect neighbor's birds than my own. My dogs tree raccoons in his mobile henhouse and I get to shoot them after bulk of chickens already killed. I also saw how my dogs actually catch fox by sneaking up on it as it works pasture. Coyotes have proven easy to keep out of trouble by dogs simply escorting them off property. Coyotes come through but do not hunt. Some odd stuff there too a couple years back.

And this should be here Monday so I can watch for dogs that roam sometimes

Since I out the elec fence up no problems but before that I had a terrible fox problem

Owls still visit me even with fencing up but they are after the mice. As soon as owl starts actually landing on pens the chickens get riled and dogs go inside fencing area to push owl out. Owl seems to have learned how not to stir chickens. One of the days the dogs will catch another owl, we caught one a couple winters back. If that happens again I will turn it in to our biologist so they can do something with it.

Mice and voles and them darn little songbirds are biggest problems because they can eat a big chunk of feed.

I do have hawks that circle and came home to a couple dented pens before but just lost one to a hawk before the fence.

Ima have it going to a monitor in my living room. I also can't see my driveway or people coming to the door with the new home so 2 will be towards the driveway / door and 2 will be in the back over the yard and pens. I'll give a report. I'm gonna put up 3 4x4's I don't want to screw to the fascia and will get a better view and don't want to attach them to trees incase they blow away in a hurricane.

I loose so few to hawks it is no longer worth mentioning. Coopers Hawks still come though daily after songbirds but they do not go after chickens. That was not the case when I had big groups of juveniles running about and no adult to say hay to the hawk. I do have as many hawks as anyone but those work the fields most are Red-shouldered and they have yet to cause troubles. The Red-tailed and Feruginous Hawks are more problematic but cover and dogs works well against them as well. Latter is a bit bigger than a Red-tailed.
