That's interesting with the change of that last birds cape. Similar to my fly tying birds. It's the first set of feathers u want. After that the colors/barring change or become washed out. I have no idea why or how it works just that it does.
I have a blue andulusian hen going on 5 yrs old that is easily 5 shades lighter blue almost to the point of being white.

And that cock paired with a solid blue hen throws more splash than the middle cock paired with a splash hen

sdm111, I never really got into the info on Miners until a short time before I found this page, I have been looking for a good blue family for several years. I do know of 2 other people in Louisiana that have the Miners, regardless of how good or not good they are I know that they come with yellow legs occasionally, red w/blue breast lemon hackles plus some of the same colors that you have. I seen where doubleleft posted about the Miners, I agree about them being great fowl, but over 90% of them are Not the same fowl that Loyld Miner bred anymore. That's also why I posted about sdm111 having them as good as anyone can get anywhere. If your willing do a little research you'll find that there are several families in Kentucky, Tenn, Florida, and Texas, plus a few more, but there again they throw some yellow legs too. Maybe the other family had ylh bred in them idk. The details on anything Mr.Loyld did is very limited.

Rooster, when I was reading about some of the early genetic work on blue, they specifically mentioned the Andalusians and how in their test strain a very small percentage would get almost white with age.

Mine are just the run of the mill hatchery birds. Figured I got a bad batch until I looked into it. I couldnt find an explanation for the changes though.

Anybody know what kind of Game Hen she is?? she's losing many feathers but is she nice enough to breed? and is that a good color?
