Interesting comparison.

Just kidding but delaying the dubbing process until comb and wattles more mature reduces that hump that sometimes comes up later when dubbed too soon. It is not regrowth, rather some tissue you would otherwise want to remove expands after the dubbing. The roosters themselves do often eat the leaving but as personal preference I do not allow that.

Friend of mine from Vietnam said to feed it back. I did let him see it on the ground and he just slung it off to the side. I wouldn't let him eat it though anyway. Seems strange to me. That ruble also had frostbit on his wattlesThey can get bad quick if let go. I've seen wattles swelled up real bad.

It not that you let it get that bad, rather it is how far along the necrosis process has gone when you dub. Generally, that first night or day it happens is the worst it gets with respect to what will ultimately fall off. Assuming no infection.

how bad do consider this guy? Would you have dubbed or waited? 9 months old

I don't know, the snow suks too. I had a little over 2" of sleet then the melt down water this evening and tonight another round of icy mix. I live on a hill and all the water runs through and around my pens
my pens sit lower than the rest of my yard so I deal with a bit of flooding every now and then too. Frustrating to say the least.

Do you guys dub according to where the blood is (almanac) or ignore that & dub whenever? (We watch the almanac, just wondering)
i dubbed that stag on Saturday night. Very little blood. However it was cold and I took him off his roost at night. So if the almanac says sat was a good day then I would agree. Otherwise I don't have enough experience dubbing birds to say either way.

OK I posted this in welsummers thread an didn't get a reply. I want to cross welsummers an american games. Has anyone done this an how did they turn out? Mature size? Egg color? Production? My welsummers are hatchery birds an my american games are mostly hatch.
