I have been keeping my chicks in for about two weeks before i move then to a runner I have had to worm a few roosters this year they got to where they could not crow worming them took care of that they are back to crowing
 
yea I looked it up and every one was saying it may be worms cause the roosters was not sick at all so I wormed them and a few days later they were crowing only time I have had any do that

I give chicks medicated feed and usually keep em in the house for close to 4 weeks then they go straight to a pen with straw. It's difficult to keep them in the house that long and a ton of work. It's mostly because of the cold though. I don't use any lights of any kind outside.
