Feeding at my place has become a chaotic event too. I had to move my feed barrell outside the shed, because they would all bum rush into the shed causing all kinds of choas (close quarter attacks and panic flights into windows/walls). Moving the barrels outside allows me to throw a few handfuls of scratch to disperse feeding frenzy.  Mama hens still come rushing in to get first dibs on food, leaving behind their clutches of chicks.

Early AM feeding helps.. I dispersed feed on Saturday night, so that I could sleep in on Sunday without having to feed them at 6am. Worked out pretty good, but they were still cackling for food when I woke up around 7:30.   I have so many free range chickens I dont have much natural forage left around my house. I see the pullets/stag gradually making their way farther and farther away from my house into the neigbors yard looking for bugs/grass to feed on.

you should get yourself and auto feeder that you can set on a timer sir. A little culling or in your case gifting may be in order to reduce your numbers and refine your yards breeding perimeters.

I think I'lll keep manual feeding. I actually enjoy feeding and taking care of my chickens despite the tedious tasks. what else am I going to do when I get home from work? lol do house chores.. I thikn not!

Lmao I'm with you on that, I like to see the birds associate with each other and the young stags stags flying around. Sadly these Hawks have ruined all that for me. One got the folks next doors little dog yesterday

thats funny cause I ain't got a lot of time for much else. What is the alternative anyway? I seriously don't watch tv at all. Most people just sit around treating themselves like kings. I gotta be moving!

just for good measure. This dude is about 6yrs old. His crow sounds like the ghost from scooby doo! Lol he is the strangest rooster I have ever owned. He goes to bed at 5pm no matter what time of year. He's actually kinda useless now that I think about it. Lol

Whoa! I have never seen a wound like that on the feet. Ouch. Right at the knuckle going into the web.

I have seen bone on the rear toes on some of my cocks, and they healed up.. I would suspect this will heal too.
