So, it's been a while since I posted here, butt I haves had to change things up here at the farm. I lost my old grey rooster last summer. So had 2 grey Helens, a roundheadX and a grey pullet without a rooster.. 6 months down the road...

So, this is my cock. Oddly enough he waundered up to my buddies layer hens and claimed them for a little while until he could catch him. Been told Minor Blue. He is a nice little cockerel, not as aggressive as my old grey was. I have this cock over 3 grey hens. Hoping to get some good birds out of them!

Where do you live that you can find games just walking around? I am the only yahoo in my whole county that has games that do not come from some ornamental hatchery.

I stay down on the Gulf Coast in Alabama. I am also the only "yahoo" in my circle of friends that has games. I personally love them and think that's how a chicken is supposed to be. Lol. Seriously my buddy came home from work one day and this cock was walking with his layer birds. Really dumbfounded him, Bc the cock was clipped already, he is going through molt now, so isn't even a 2 yr old. I traded an Easter egger rooster for him Bc I needed a cock for my game hens. I lost my grey rooster to a coon last summer and needed to replace him.
I still have a lot to learn about gamefowl and am definitely looking forward to the journey!

You three make me laugh. You've also made me feel a better about having my to cockrels. We wanted one, wound up with 2, and didn't have the heart to get rid of him. This seems to be the guys thread, and like always I end up happily hanging with the boys. I found you looking for info about ducky, and have kept following because I'm bound to learn and laugh.

Oh, what's the difference between a stag and a cockrell?

BTW, I'm really glad y'all are OK. I have to admit I became concerned.

Wendy
better watch u may end up with 100 lol. I'm ok 20miles east I wouldn't have been. Gotta admit its an awesome sight seeing everyone pulling together to help. Donating stuff. People are using u haul trucks and personal enclosed trailers parked at various areas and people are going to them and filling them up. The churches have been organising a lot and been distribution points.

Every bit helps. My wife and I did 2 so far one tues or wed and one Saturday. (Not my trailer just trying to straighten to make room ) they fill fast. Some places still got water

I don't understand looking through other threads I see over and over

A rooster has to have x amount of hens 4, 6, 10 or the hens get over bred.

Most of mine currently are paired and I have no problems and I know some here have the same. Do any of y'all have problems? Is it only an issue with non games
My RIR rooster overbreeds really bad and all three of his RIR hens are tore up because of it.. None of my games have this problem.

Where I am seeing the problem also involves not only more amorous males, it also involves larger birds that may have qualitatively different feathers. A seven pond cock is harder on feathers than a a 5 lb game cock. Also feel the feathers. My American Games have feathers that are either more firmly attached or more resistant to loading than what the American Dominiques have.

There is a huge difference in feathers between our "soft feathered" black australorps and our game pullet ducky.
