The hen I posted has game in her as it was a chick I got out of my wife's moms game hen (unsure of breed she was like an almond color with grey/blue tail) and my Maran game mix roo. She's pretty feisty and number 1 on the pecking order she is a bit plump but a good looking gal.
I think I'll keep her in that pen she sticks right beside my cockerel (Johnny cash) which is a welsummer, her mom before a hawk got her last week was great at hatching and raising chicks.

To be black like that, one of parents at least is not who you think it is. One parent is solid black or black with bars.

It had white leakage but as far as I can tell it all went away it is one of two possibilities as far as Roos go but Does have feathered feet as my free range flock roo has.

Question for the genetic gurus. This is a totally hypothetical scenario, let's say you came across a chicken u were pretty impressed with and after talking to its owner all u could really understand due to a language barrier is "black hatch". Has anyone heard of a black hatch and what black would cross into a hatch (I'm thinking roundhead) good and which cock over which hen to have the best odds of a stag all black with like a dark wine colored hackle and saddle.

A larger battlecross we used to make with our mostly Hatch-looking hens bred to black / brown-red cocks would be hard to distinguish from the cock other than station lower and size was intermediate. Exception was some would come out looking redquil. Getting the brassy back look must require some allele we did not have.

If I tried it id definitely do the hatch over. I may try a Sylvester hatch over a black roundhead.

I am not certain direction of cross matters on this in terms of color. Someone that might be up on such is the guy that goes by Saladin but he has not been active for a good 2 years I think.

When it comes to Hatch, as far as I can tell they do not really represent a particular color. Most are black breasted red to be sure but even within that some come wild-type and some come wheaton. Latter seems most abundant of those I see. I also used to think they were all green / willow-legged yet most you see advertised have yellow legs. Another difference is I thought they were pretty close to Albanies and other old US strains in terms of looks yet those I have seen in person look like grades with a fair amount of Aseel in them.

I crossed a black cock over a ruble hen. Got 2 stags and 3 pullet. I have 2 pullets and 1 stag as of now. Out of them I got two brown red pullets, 1 hatch colored but a little darker over all with blue legs. The stags were hatch colored with a little more rust in the hackles.
