Stags shown above I stopped from fighting, again. This time by putting them in breeding pen with American Dominique cock and 3 hens. Stags stopped fighting almost immediately. What would be better to understand is what sets them off. Something sets them off.

I would love to make that Missouri show. You are right about not arguing with the judge, but there is the American Game Fowl Standard. It's my opinion that as game fowl breeders/exhibitors, we should politely ask judges to take a look at the Game Fowl Standard. A problem that we (those showing American Game Fowl Bantams) is that judges want to compare them with Old English Game Bantams. The two breeds are very different. The best American Game Fowl that I know of have no Old English Bantam in them. We are trying to make them a smaller version of what you full size Game Fowl breeders are producing. Good luck with your showing. I appreciate you showing GAME FOWL!

Thanks.

The game fowl standard I would like to see. Not keen on breeding to match a particular look.

From what I've seen, the type birds you guys are raising is great. These shows put the color standards on them to have classes (right or wrong). It's the type that makes the breed. Color only makes the variety. If you want, PM me your address and I'll mail you something.

Ended quarantine on the two outsourced pullets today. One slipped passed me to free-range for day. She had to be pulled off roost causing her to bolt. She and her sister are a bit on the psycho side but not inclined to fly much. Mine calmer but get up and fly trees without trouble. The pullets act like scared of heights.

I'm impressed, nice bass. I bet that got your heart rate up.
Ha. Yeah when you hook into a decent fish with relatively small gear you start questioning your knots real fast. I use an 8 wt fly rod which is actually kinda big but he had the rod doubled over the whole time. You ain't ripping them out of the weeds as quickly.

General shows have been in Sedalia, MO. I was told to look at Old English Game Bantams to see the ideal for each color variant. I assume the SOP for Old English Game Bantams was being followed. Based on what I have been told, challenging a judge is not something to do.

The gamefowl show moves about but still within an hour of the capitol in central MO.
I understand referring to Old English for color, but in my opinion, Gamefowl were bred based on ability. Selecting primarily for color is very difficult and again, in my opinion, ruins the true nature and ability of the fowl. It is really difficult to have your cake and eat it too.

They cannot asses game fowl based on ability in show pens. All the judge can asses is apparent health, feather quality, type, weight, and yes my favorite color (not). I think jshubin's crazy physical and mental test still have a lot of merit.

I won't breed to satisfy the opinion of a judge so best for me just to stay out of it. Was just wondering why centras wouldn't qualify, I see now

It's like looking for the most perfect orange going by a picture of a lemon, instead just get lemons instead of degrading oranges
