Is that more typical of Miners? The old pics of some of Lloyd Miner's males are black and white, but the descriptions usually say straight comb yellow legged. I tend to like the darker birds and the pea comb works better up here in the winter, but some seem pretty set on one style or the other.
Thanks Flypen. It is interesting that you mention the pea comb, yellow legged. Are there any pea comb yellow legged families of fowl? I had a family of single comb yellow legged miners, no where near as good as SDM's miners, so I just kept one nice hen from them and crossed them with a male from SDM's. I don't think I hatch enough to really know, but I get green, blue, dark and yellow legs out of the crosses. I intentionally used a pea comb male from SDM. Interestingly to me, they do not come pea comb yellow legged.I have seen them come straight comb, yellow leg, straight comb dark leg, and pea comb dark leg. I haven't seen any pea comb yellow leg. I don't know a lot about the history on the Miners, Mr. Lloyd Miner probably bred other blood to the original straight comb yellow leg family to make the family like sdm has.
Morning SMD. Thanks for the info. That looks like it will be a great read! I will have to copy and past that text into something else. That white text on black background is tough to read this early in the morning. lol.4th paragraph down is,a good read on miners. It seems Mr Lloyd had 2 lines one all straight comb and one peacomb from roundhead blood enjoy
Kinda stops at the straight comb though. I never could find any real concrete info just hearsay

Fwiw I spoke at length to an old cocker a few yrs ago that said he had pitted against the miners and back then 50's I think He said they looked like the splash but said they were mostly white. That was in Oklahoma and north Texas. I showed him a pic and he said "that's them dam good cutters". The older man I got mine from only had miners and per him for a long time so I believe what he told me in that they were what he said.
