If anyone with gamefowl can let a full grown cock run around a yard with access to penned birds and doesn't have mangled birds eventually there is a problem. All I'm saying
Yeah I would agree .... somewhat. If I let out a cock out and he doesnt do anything, I'd be worried.

But I do it a bit different than what you think.. Before I let a cock loose he has to engage the previous free range cock so I can grab him. This is my testing and only way to easily catch a free range cock. After this I think they feel like champ and control territory wihtout challenger (as they are penned). At that point they ready to drink and court the hens. But not always. I do have problems with this alot.

That's exactly my point. You have an existing cock out loose with access to penned birds. I'm well aware the pullets/hens he has will keep him busy for awhile but eventually he "should" notice the other stags/cocks in the pens and a nightmare would ensue.

A little pecking is young stag stuff. Full grown cocks and older stags lose eyeballs, broken legs, toes, beaks etc.. nobody in their right mind would allow that to happen on a regular basis. Therefore there is a problem in the blood.

Look at these awesome brood fowl. Haha
Sorry about the fuzzy pic, doesn't do these amazing birds justice

All seriousness shubin culling is necessary to improve gamefowl as a whole. It sucks to do it and I will put it off until I have to. Inferior birds should be culled regardless not given away as cheap stags. I'd give my best away. They may be somebody else's mediocre birds who knows. If I am second guessing anything about them they won't leave here.
