Kind of see the roof on the bottom pic. Simple wire roof that won't blow in wind using left over wood. Just sits on top.

So far i only have roof for 4x4s but i have some ideas for octagon roof

In wet climates with the height v/s the area I wonder if it would basically flood or stay wet. I like the concept and that would work for single birds for me but I think even with a tin roof with the height rain would blow in or Sun beat in. Also how is landing off the roost? Does it seem like enough room to fly down? How high is it 8'. Bumblefoot

Follow link for MO concept of our native bamboo.

Bamboo I have is not native and I may come to regret it. I have to work hard to contain it. It is difficult to force yourself through.
I am a little farther north and east of you Centra. Several years ago I went so far as to bring home some starts from a friend but never planted them. It looks interesting, but I have seen many plantings get out of control and they look like a real pain to contain. That is my hesitation with planting bamboo.

Sugar cane would be fun, but I doubt it would grow here. lol

500 acres of sugarcane blowing in the wind is mesmerizing. One of the coolest things to watch. And the bagasse that blow out of trucks is rough on tires

Less effort than keeping games
Cheaper too.

Yea 8'... roost is adjustable but lowest is 4' (highest is probably 6' without hitting head). Fly pens are that high. Probably could use straw landing.

The sides are plywood 4' up so they could hide from sun. Rain not so much, but i don't have worry about that but a few times a year lol.

Took them down earlier due to winds. Fold flat and can fit in back of truck.
