Best stag from last spring.

If I didn't get him penned I wouldn't have had many left. He thinned the herd himself.

Pullets are laying eggs all over the place. Under my bench in the shed.

My hens crow on occasion... usually when no cock is out... This black henwas calling in hens for treats like a rooster... and has been seen crowing on a few times.

All of my broody hens with chicks crow. Crow not full and complex like rooster's but his serves similar purposes. Hen dispersion and harem contact.

Fox came back early this morning. Pulled stag off roost. Stag lost tail, took some bites to body and lost a few wing feathers. Somehow stag got free and flew up into a tree a good 30 feet up an a couple hundred feet from barn. All birds will be penned tonight. I will be sleeping in barn with .22.
