Hey sdm, finally picked up a new fly rod today. Only took from 9 am til 5pm. Drove all over the state and into Delaware just to find the right rod and fly line. As it turns out fly fishing isn't all that popular. Who knew?
Got a 10wt which is a fairly big rod. Gonna try my luck with stripers and bluefish on the coast. 5 yr old son has also moved up to to a regular spinning reel from a spin cast, says he wants to catch a shark ( which is doable) He'll probably catch more than me. Lol

Local father and son team won a championship tournament this past weekend. This is the son's biggest fish 7.94

I think I may start a fishing guide business. I think I'll specialize in fly fishing/light tackle. Mainly for blue gills. I'll be rich.

Most of brood produced by that largely white pullet that is 1/2 white muff and 1/2 toppy. Based on colors of chicks she through when bred to a hatch-colored cock, she is het for about everything. She is also an actual grey. Of the 10 game chicks in the brood, three are some version of grey and they are also the only males which is consistent with silver allele that makes greys. Black chick is from egg kids and I transplanted from out Missouri Dominique project.

This pullet a half-sister or sister to the hens that damaged the other day. She and three more half-sisters and sisters will be occupying my time this summer. This gal has spurs but does not use them on me. About a week ago I had her in a dog kennel in the barn with a couple other pullets, two American Dominique hens and the dom colored game stag. Pullet below was moved to where most games are kept in cockyard where I am breeding her to a cock for a color experiment. Distance between locations about 200 feet with direct rout obstructed by a lot of high vegetation. After nearly a week of confinement in new location she was released for a little supervised free-range time. I have to watch her close because she does not hesitate to mix it up with penned stags through wire. After about 30 minutes she jumps up and flies all the way back to barn which is also up hill. Then I have to catch her quick before she is covered by American Dominique cock let out so I can clean pens with kids. That is when snake appeared.

My kids have more than a passing interest in mice so we have been purposely letting out piles of feed sacks layed flat to mice would use them as cover. The kids then go out to find nests by gently turning sacks over. We tried using old carpets for same purpose but for some reason mice not using them. We have two possibly, three species of mice in barn. They are main reason snakes coming in. Next week we will remove feed sacks to replace them with inverted protein tubs for the mice. Kids are also seeing the mice are a problem and reason we have to hide feed in the barrels.
