I am not privy to MDC's population estimates for rabbits. Also doubt they are tracking at local level. That said, rabbit abundance overall does apppear elevated in areas I visit routinely.

Yep, we do have preventative measures... also, we're in the middle of nowhere with the largest all-you-can-eat buffet for miles... and possum and coon population around here is similar to Centra's rabbit population...

Proper dog training is great prevention too, I hear...

dogs are double edge sword.. i know. Hard to say if they protect more than they kill...

But I am certain that if dogs werent in my yard I'd have coyotes, racoons and possums pulling them out of the trees

You do not know rabbit until you see the plague I have going on. If their numbers do not get knocked back soon they will be killing back all plants.

This one's for you... no they can be a plague... rabbit stew time.

I try to prevent instead of kill...

For example... we got ants last year pretty bad... instead of spraying Raid endlessly, I just took away what they were after (moisture), and provided water dish outside along their path and it worked.

Raccoons and possums love dog food, you probably spend a lot less energy throwing out some dog food (away from chicken yard), instead of trapping and killing. Worth a try in my opinion. If that fails after could always go back to plan A (murder lol).
Are you kidding me? Providing a drink of water to the ants! Feeding the wildlife. Couldn't be more *ss backwards. Why do you think CA has so many bear problems. Dumb*sses feed them til they become comfortable around humans. Ending with them dying all because some wackjob thought they were thinking outside the box. There's a big word for that shubin. I've posted it before. You know the one.
