This is my beloved Begawamagawk (Gawky). She and her flock sister came to me from my neighbor. They chose me. They were living in my neighbors log truck across the street from me We live out in the woods and my "neighbors " are a quarter mile away. I heard a bizarre noise one summer day while watching tv and went to investigate. I found two amazing sparkling eyed Banty hens, both lovely ladies. Neighbor said keep 'em, so I did. I was told American game bird cross. Either way they have been awesome! Hardy and plucky, brave as hell, but sweet and will occasionally tolerate a brief cuddle. They co-raised my first ever hatch of chicks. Gawky has a chipped beak tip, which I always monitor for further breakage but so far she has never let it slow her down. I just lost Agnes, the wheaten hen to old age. They were approximately 4 or so when they came into my home and heart 5 years ago. Such courage that I have never seen in such a small animal. They puff their chests out and draw all 8 inches of their self up whenever a rooster dares to show an intere Agnes is the top and Gawky the lower.
