Supposed to be a leiper. He was a freebie for my daughter. He was the lowest rooster on the totem pole when he was with his brothers in a pen. Now we're waiting on him to molt and replace those ragged tail feathers. He's not pretty, but he lets my daughter carry him around without much fuss. Lol.

Was he with other roosters recently in the same pen?

Before we got him. I think they stayed in a grow out pen together too long. We had to get rid of our yard flock too, he was trying to fight with our yard rooster through the pen. Poor guys tail looks so pitiful.

His tail will grow back fine after he molts as long as you don't have any other males that can get to his pen.

He lost two toenails before we realized our free ranging silkie rooster was antagonizing him in the pen. So he spent almost a week sitting down with his tail in the dirt until his foot got better. So the silkie went to the auction.

Two toenails ain't bad. Could've been much worse. Good choice in getting rid of the silkie. Silkies can be really aggressive for their tiny size. lol I had one years ago that would mess with an Easter egger rooster. The EE would roll his plump little *ss all over the yard yet he'd keep coming back for more.
That leiper would've killed him in seconds most likely.

I considered letting him out to teach the silkie a lesson... but thought he'd end up dead. Lol. I had a silkie that used to beat up a gigantic Wyandotte rooster. Like, the size of a small turkey rooster. The silkie was so small and fast he'd hit him, run off, circle behind him and hit him again. He didn't do any real damage... but he was so mean and just wouldn't stop. That silkie was ignoring our other roosters in pens. Usually stayed in another part of the yard all together. For some reason he just could not stand this game rooster. At all. Lol. I was worried at first he had broken his foot or leg because he wouldn't stand up, but everything seemed OK except for the missing toe nails. Now we don't have any chickens on the yard, just ducks and a couple of geese. There are a bunch of feathers in the leipers pen, so hopefully he's going to molt and he just wasn't fighting with that mean hen he's with. Lol.

This is our other rooster. Bred free range off of birds that escaped and couldn't be caught, multiple different blood lines. Only the strong survive. He did not enjoy getting caught, nor does he enjoy being in a pen. Lol. He's with our ee hens. I'm trying to recreate an ee/game mix hen I lost. She was awesome.

My wife wanted some blue eggs a few years ago, so I got her some EEs then later got her some pure Americanas. There's a lot to the standards of the breed. I later did some research on Sulmtalers that were imported into the United States in 2010 and decided to buy some eggs from the 2 breeders in the United States, after it was all said and done I had all 4 recognized colors to the breed. The next year I bred the blue wheaten back to blue wheaten and got about 25% pyle or splash. The Sulmtaler organization wouldn't recognize the pyle color but would splash. I was the first in the United States with all four colors and the first breeder with the splash. I ended up putting a few in the freezer, gave away or sold all the rest of them, all the EEs and Americanas are gone to. I'll always have something here for eggs year around.
