No only other chickens I'd have are lakenvelders obviously or black rosecomb bantams. Due to the earth I live on sinking and being erodid by storms and stuff I flood easy and need to contimplate all birds being on wire. All I have right now are the bare essential stock for breeding next year non essentials have been moved to other properties higher than I

Hmmm...a frizzle or sizzle or fizzle:p yeah, I would think they would be soft:)

Are you seriously getting some Cochins?

I do like the looks of the Lakenvelder. Beautiful birds. Wouldn't mind having some of them, I've only seen them at MM - problem is orders are too large for me. I only add about 6-7 birds at a time, so...min order of 25 or 15 doesn't work.
always order twice as much incase of deaths and in the event they're lucky enough to make it to adulthood then butcher the extras

I'm having an issue wondering if full size games on wire would be ethicle? Im thinking ok as long as they can't jump down from anywhere. I've had them on wire before without issues

People are here are notoriously wrong on what breeds they have. You can see it in sale postings on facebook. Lol. Like someone selling BB red oegbs, but the picture had a wheaten hen and rooster and a red pyle hen, not quite small enough to be oegbs. Not one of them was BB red. That's the most recent one I saw. I don't know if it's ignorance or on purpose. Since basically the only chicken person I know with game fowl is my dad, I trust him to know what he's got. He knows people, but I don't. Other people I know that raise chickens are more anti gamefowl. I get asked a lot why I even want them. So I really don't talk about them to many people. Apparently I don't look like the type of person that will own game birds, piercings and tattoos, so a lot of people don't talk to me about them either. When I was looking at the pullets I bought yesterday they were quick to say, "Oh they lay eggs too." After I asked what they were. I guess I look more like someone that would be protesting at the livestock auction rather than buying from it. Lol. My husband gets the same treatment. People are always shocked that he hunts. He doesn't fit the type. He grew up in California and he's sleeved in tattoos, he likes nerdy things.

I just generally assume there are as many people selling game fowl that are mixed or they don't even know what they are as there are people selling other types of chickens that have no clue what they have.

Your situation is different than most so u have to do whatever it takes. If they don't have the ability to scratch though I think it will negatively affect them.

Great post ha. I don't know with bb red bantams but alot of red gamefowl have both brown and Wheaton. Here's a Wheaton Albany there's a brown Albany also. I mostly get brown.
