We just have a great pyrenees. We've got a mix that's her half sister now that's a puppy. Hopefully she does as good a job. We still bring her inside at night, she likes to chase the ducks and geese and I don't want her to catch one at night. I have to watch her and stop her from doing it all day.

Both my chargers are the intermittent type but they dropped my Doberman straight to the ground so it's fine. I've seen 2 foxes touch them. One sneezed and ran off the other one hit the ground and ran to the other fence where that one got him too lol. If I ever see something go through it I'll change.
I really don't see any animals driving through it one touch and that's it I believe. Although enough reading on this sites other threads you'd think raccoons would just rip the poles out the ground and cut the wire with their teeth lol

I just can't trust a dog. Only takes one time to feel that prey drive and it's over with

I've had dogs all my life and none of mine have ever killed a bird but I ain't relying on a dog for anything. Dig deep enough and you'll usually find that people with dogs for livestock protection have ultimately lost around the same amount of birds to the dogs than they might have to predators. Lol

Dog turned predator by jshu nevermind

Lol. My pyr isn't a bird eater. She is an egg eater though. Her mama taught her that neat trick. If I want eggs from a certain bird, I have to pen them up. I guess it's her protection payment. Hahaha.

She plucked a couple of birds when she was still a puppy. Didn't kill them, but they were naked as a grocery store fryer halfway down. She used to have a thing for feathers. At least she grew out of that. Lol.

For a while we were so frustrated with her chicken plucking habits we almost turned her into an indoor dog. That cured her. Too many rules inside. Only one rule outside, don't touch chickens. They take so long to mature that it takes a long time for them to get out of that puppy stage. I'm prepared for the fact that the mix may never grow out of it. But our pyr has turned into an awesome dog as an adult.
