Thank You SDM, I thoroughly enjoy this part of BYC, each one of your posts is so appreciated. Knowing You and Flypen best(I thank personally both of you for kindness expressed) on this group, i can honestly say there are good and honest people out there and this whole group reflects that.
SDM my personal thanks to you for being an honest, level-headed gamefowl Man.

Now, how about You, your chickens, the weather and water over your way ????? Hope You and Flypen are doing OK - Safe and Dry.
Friend, i don't think I could take living below the Mississippi River!! (lol)
We have not had rain in south Alabama in few days, it had been raining every day. I've tried to raise a few this yr but had many problems besides just being able to drag myself down there feed & water and drag myself back to the house, I've had coon, possum, and electric fence problems. Killed 6 possums and hope I killed a coon or more w/indigestion.
I have all my material to build pens but can't find help, all the good ones get a regular job pretty quick and the others that show up work good for one day and it's downhill from there. (am i paying enough at $!0 up to $15 an hour even more on good jobs?)

I keep trying ... I lost 2 or 3 in last few days that flew over into dog yard(crazy suicide fly-over) (first time in 25 yrs that the dog yard has been there) some of the few this yrs Mclean hatch.
I had wanted to share some with few good friends but I don't know if there will be enough for me.
Thank you doubleleft, I'm glad I sent you a message almost 2yrs ago, I've enjoyed reading your posts, your pictures, and messages. Occasionally I send you a message just so I know you're ok. I know if you would let sdm or me help you raise some of your fowl and God forbid if something happens to your pens I would personally bring your broodfowl back and if there's enough time to raise a few I would send you some young stags and pullets back. I'd love to see the Marion and Griffin bloodlines have a strong comeback. I wish you the best buddy I always have.

I've got some that are mature, most of my stags get sent to Tennessee.
As soon as I saw that speckled chest, it reminded me of the of the Bates you shared a while back, at least I think it was yours. I commented how nice he looked and the only thing that would make it better was if it was blue... Keep up the good work!

Thank you lmljsl, I agree the spangles are eye catchers. I gifted all the Bates to a young man except for one cock and 4 hens. I don't move as fast as I use to and the Bates have a guick temper. If you go to grab one and miss they'll turn on you in a second. I had the Typewriters back in the 80s but lost them to coyotes. I have a friend in Tennessee that sent me a pair, but it looks like they're carrying a little bit of some other blood so I'll be spending a few years getting them back to the way Typewriters should be.

You are most welcome. I remember you saying the Bates were not for everyone, but fine fowl.
I only know the Typewriters in name, but were the originals spangled and pea combed? I guess I would not have expected that.

That breast color is normal, that stag as far as color is perfect. He should be straight comb, that's his only fault. I have a stag put up for breeding, I haven't selected any pullets yet. I have a couple that came pyle colored.
