Oh I think I read that wrong. You were just putting pullets together? That usually don't work for me unless they grew up together or they are loose running the yard.

I tried putting that 1 1/2 yr old hulsey hen with my June hatched butcher/mclean pullets and them pullets wasn't having it. I hope to plan on pairing them up with that warhorse is it better now or after he's got done with the hormones he's soon to get? Or wait till he's over a year.

My McLean does well with everything even when he was younger but I do understand not all are the same. I sure hope I can pair them up I heard warhorse are hard to breed to start with due to beating up hens or killing and I don't won't that.

You can always try. Can't hurt. Just be ready to yank them out if it goes south. A lot of times there's a little bit of rough treatment but it should subside after a little while. Just do it when you have time to be there for awhile to keep an eye on them.

I do introductions on Friday nights or Saturday mornings early. Pens are walked as feeding about time birds come off roost. Care is taken to make certain I am present much of the day to intervene in the event something goes wrong. Preference is to make so both birds are on neutral turf which means little more than moving pen a few feet the evening before.

I think I just need to cut down to 3 breeding trios might gotta a little to big for my breches for now.

If I get a stag outta these pumpkins I'll keep him and breed him back to the other unrelated pair. I know folks ain't pretecularly fond of their gameness but I've always wanted some for my own liking.

Warhorse and the McLean/butcher's.

And my mcleans.

Ima divide this 12x12 kenel before i try pairing the warhorse up he seems pretty calm now, but un telling with other birds yet. And I'll make dang sure I'm around to see how that goes I do anyhow when interducing birds. Shoulda seen that one little pullet come off that roost legs first and knock that pumpkin hen into the water bowl I for sure wasn't expecting that from a 4month old pullet.
