what do you know about annealing? or the manufacture of aircraft cables? or bending washers consistently?

Each one of those items took centuries to get to that current condition... All seem simple enough to buy now-a-days...
Just making aircraft cable is no joke and requires so many material certificates and process specs and special machine equipment and testing to make sure they meet claimed mechanical properties consistently.

and just putting together the right components to get it to work consistently (what diameter wire? what materials? what size washer? etc etc etc)... trial testing all those variables in different dry/wet, cold/hot, brush/no brush situations...

That saying "you get what you pay for"... is a hidden compliment to engineers. Because things that cost more are generally better engineered.

Cheap items are usually poorly engineered... or were butchered by business people trying use cheap materials to squeeze more profits (against the warnings of an engineer most likely)

Oh I know I work with UL listed aircraft cable literally everyday amongst a whole host of underwriters lab tested and listed parts. So yeah stuffs overengineered alot

UL Canada too aka ULC homey

No we've always been able to produce HP here in America the thing was more efficient HP. And it took decades to do so and be compliant. And I'm not talking engines performance I'm talking parts and other things they make it so every joe blow can't do without going to the stealership. When you have to pull a bumper to replace a headlight that's the type stuff that could be avoided.

Heck VW rivets their dust shield covering the window motor and regulator your telling me that was the best way? Negative the list of stupid things on vehicles these days is a long one.
