If you in breed or line you can get plenty of subfamilies of said strain as well as letting a trustworthy buddy breed a yard of the fowl as well. Never let a none vigorous or otherwise second rate fowl from such a family breed or it will be carried on and that's going to be difficult to breed out or nearly impossible.

From all that I've read it's possible to have such for 20 years, but eventually you need to cross to another pure strain bred for years very similar in all ways to your own strain but test to make 100% of such before cross you wouldn't want to cross with inferior birds after you've spent so much time, heart and soul in your own birds.

Sometimes when you are young, you think you know everything about breeding gamefowl because you grew up around them but to be honest I didn't realize why you line breed - in breed. In just a few years I had lost the original cock and several needed hens to a dog. I in-bred the ones I had left so many times they went to junk. I know all I had to do was ask, I had so many famous men that I saw all the time at the pits and they were always asking me if everything was going good. Now that I'm the older one I enjoy helping my nephews, I was young and dumb. If I could go back knowing what I know now, wow it would be incredible. All the old timers back then were Awesome, they would help you with anything you needed.
Let me pick at your brain Flypen if you will...
Hypothetically speaking, if you were to acquire a New Trio (hens are sisters, cock is unrelated), how would you work and continue the line if they produced amazing stags?

Morning All! Enjoying the breeding discussion. If you don't mind sharing... How would you maintain/breed a single pair?
How many would you try to raise?
What about matings for following years?
If you needed one brood stag and two pullets from a mated pair for your breeding next year where would you get your best selection? From 2 stags or 10? Same with your pullets, you don't have to go crazy with the numbers but your best will come from being able to have more to choose from.
