Hawks disappeared Warhorse faught hard legs all tore up I'm guessing the wind blew something else into the wire and bent a gap in it and I didn't notice.
Hawk was missing quite a few feathers, WH was going on 9months ruble hen was over a year neither could get out. The hawk managed to get to one of my other hens through the dome (you can see the dried blood on her lower right side) she seems fine i doctored her up she actually got lose on me and flew on top of the house the kelso was fighting it like crazy, I really hate it happen I had high hopes for them and love my birds they are buried together just seemed fitting.

I had this built for them and was planing on putting them in it soon but now it's this trios home.

Not all birds will fight off a hawk, but is fun when you find one that will.

Sorry about the birds.
How big a hole did you have in your pen that a hawk was able to fly down into?
Dome pens don’t have gaps anywhere. That’s why I don’t have doors (less to go wrong) With them screwed down something has to dig completely underneath.
Did someone actually see the hawk do all this damage? That is definitely not the norm. That hawk would have to straight up beat that stag down from the ground unless there was a wide open hole that the hawk was able to fly through and hit him with a lot of impact. Even redtail size hawks are real dainty in the hand. They couldn’t take even a little punishment a gamecock could dish out from the ground.

My mother inlaw found them two dead called me and hawk was messing with the ones in the dome the kelso. From what I seen with my eyes is the hawk got their necks and broke them from the outside I found the two basically on top of each other and feathers from the hawk outside the pen. What I'm thinking is he got ahold of the hen them the WH went over and faught through the wire on top of her until exhausted the hen had more damage to the face than the stag no blood to the body that I could see but both heads were out of wire. It's hard to say really it does stink either way you slice it, I appreciate it.

Here's the hen that got wounded in the dome could have been the hawk or all the hussle an bustle from the kelso throwing legs like a mad man from what my Mother inlaw seen with her eyes.

ya Id guess that blood is from hawk... rooster kicks usually dont draw blood like that, more like swelling/bruising with maybe a little blood from poke holes.

sounds like a smart/dumb a** hawk too.. maybe juvenile with not much sense. I couldnt imagine a seasoned hawk taking risk to kill a bunch of chickens without eating much of them. Especially out in that cold.
