Yes sir, I was thinking maybe the ground dirt was softer. I have clay and sand so they keep them toenails short here.The ground the pens are on is super soft so they don’t get worn down much in that particular area.

Yeah there is that issue and when they use them on you too. My Grandfather's red hens were spurred. I learned the hard way not to touch their chicks.I probably have 70-75% with spurs, I don't care for spurred hens because they break eggs occasionally.
