Bringing asil cross home this past weekend. Had some strange looks on the freeway

Anyone have any idea why he losing his feathers? I got him with thin feathers on neck... but they havent been replaced... even though he is getting good feed.

Im thinking asil might need higher protein diet?

If he was in a wire pen constantly sticking his head out at something will do that. Could be why whoever was getting rid of him. Some birds just don’t do well in a pen. They’ll grow back but not if he keeps doing it.

that could be it... he is one of those crazy birds that jumps into and pokes his head through wire. probably rubbing his chest feathers off.

He was at my ex's house... so she could have been neglecting greens or protein treats that I would normally give ...
Also His hen got out his cage too, so he may be stressing... seemed like he was a good paired rooster who treated his hen well.

I just moved him into new cage and have a nice American/Cuban cross hen to go with him...

No free range chickens at the new house... keeping them penned... until I get some chicks to grow up on the property.
