With the latest recall of 200 million eggs traced back to NC. Owned by Rose Acre farms , Ind I would to know just exactly what they do to treat, prevent the outbreak from happening again.
With that many hens my guess is they are pumped full of antibiotics. No way they are culling thousands of hens right? Then again I guess they have number systems that identify at least maybe one chicken house to isolate issues like this.
I find it interesting that you’ll see numerous articles about the recall yet not one ever says what they do to fix the issue aside from returning, trashing those lot numbers of eggs.
What disease were the eggs carrying?

Salmanella is a pretty common bug. Destroying flock to control does not seem most cost effective. Maybe they could allow outbreak to run its course.
Yeah that’s what I mean. I know they’re not destroying all those laying hens. I’m just curious what they actually do. That’s a lot of damn eggs and lost revenue. Articles say it was traced back to NC. Wonder what kind of % of antibiotics you’d find in those first batch of available eggs deemed suitable for consumption from the affected farms.
I’m find this stuff interesting since I’m not a fan of any kind of factory type farming.

The eggs were tainted with legionella bacteria? Or did the chickens actually have pnemonia?

I feel something like this could be caught early or at least noticed, if it's the latter

Slightly off topic... Havoc, do you have a recommendation for a kid's bow? My son is showing some interest and I would like to get him something functional. He is a lefty so that may limit choices. Thanks!
