There are many kinds of horse flies. One kind hits me on top of head only after I swim very vigorously. Males of the big black kind setup courtship areas on a gravel road where I drive my motorcycle. I am better at identifying nymphs than adults when it comes to mayflies.

This one of two hens with young broods to be used for big event on Saturday where they will suffer handling by potentially thousands of humans. I have to take multiples because birds are likely to be over fed. We get an air-conditioned lecture hall to do our business. Also taking a cock, bullstag and six juveniles. Taking $70 worth of live meal worms and a butt load of aquatic critters.

My efforts above will be very close to a particular US animal oriented organization with headquarters very near venue where I am doing my bit. They are displaying as well. Will be very interesting to see how our efforts compare.

lol, I am sure they will have gamefowl as well for their demonstration.

This week I have to collect a lot of aquatic critters for a touch-table display. Will try to post a lot of them. Havoc, you may be interested in some of the insects.
I surely can’t identify the nymphs. I can easily tell a mayfly nymph from a caddisfly. Larvae and pupae too. I can get close going by the time of year and size but that’s a bout it. I’m no entomologist.
