I'm not really a fan of labels or rules.
I tend not to listen to either....I'd have to do a little research on that product before I'd try it.
As it goes, the label is the law... Fipronil is relatively cheap, but comparing the concentrate @ 9% vs 0.25% in Frontline.

I use DE in enclosed coops and dusting areas but it’s not a replacement for sevin or other insecticides. I’m aware a lot of people don’t like using chemicals but I’m not one of them. I have too many songbirds hanging around during winter especially when the ground is snow covered. They bring lice, northern fowl mites etc.. De will not get rid of these if you have an infested birds(s)

better than sevin I am sure.
I'm on the DE is worthless train.
I've seen too many people post photos of mites swimming in DE powder in their nest boxes.
DE can not possible work if it gets even slightly wet...it would never work with my regular humidity levels.

DE seems to work great in my yard... but preventing it is where is works best.

If it was bad infestation, then I would use Sevin or similar mite powder.
But probably start by raking everything (poop, feathers, soiled straw and dander) then replace all the straw, hose it down, then sprinkle the yard with Sevin... then at night I would get all the chickens sprayed with that horse spray and sprinkle Sevin on them as well.
