Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

The birds entered have to be APA recognized breeds. I sometimes wash the birds I show. I show a lot of white birds.

This is an APA recognized breed. My concern is that he has faults, so he isn't show quality. For this type of show, is it more important that people get to see a representation of a rare breed - or that the entries meet the SOP? I know both would be preferable, but I have not seen this breed in the past 2 shows at Stockton, so maybe there won't be any at this show. My friend thinks people would like to see an example of the breed, even if he's not perfect.

I'm sorry to be asking this here, but I don't have a mentor for this breed, and no friends who show. I did snail mail photos to Craig Russell and am awaiting reply.

Thanks,
Kim

PM me pictures of the bird(s) and I will let you know if you should show it. You can show any bird, but if it has DQ's it will be DQ'ed at this show. It is probably fine and there is no birds without faults. You just don't want DQ faults. Your friend is right for the most part.

I wanted to get pictures to show you the difference in leg color with the feed change, but most of them were seeking refuge from the heat, in the timber.

Good thing they can get out in the timber like that mine love to stay out in the shady areas too, most of the day.

That sure is a good looking gal there with those bright yellow-orange legs. I too have changed up my rations and am seeing some yellowing coming in esp. in the projects they were very pale due to feed type but are getting better as of late.

Ps go check out my post on the predators section you can see my style of LIVE traps on there and the results I get with them.

So Kathy, what kind of feed did you switch to? They are looking great! Also at waht age do you normally process yours? We just did one cockeral on Monday because he has been overly agressive. So much so that we decided not to wait the three more weeks like we had planned on. We had him for dinner today.

How many Delawares do you have? 16, I think?

How old are they? 8 weeks to just over a year old
