Oh, yes, I know combs are our biggest problem here. I know "rooster #1" has a bad comb, but I think he is great in many other ways. I love the way he holds his wings, and I like his markings alot too... best of all, though, he is the sweetest, calmest, most baby-dollish (it's a word now!) rooster I have. His comb is the worst part of him, and I think combs are just hard for most, if not all, Del breeders. Am I right?
So, I had my mind already made but didn't want to give it up just yet... I'm going to try to find a "pet quality" home for "#2". He is a pretty good boy and his comb tried to be right, but missed the mark. lol.
Now, Maddy, who hasn't been photographed, he is my worst in every way. He is living with the ducks, and when I get this all moved around (coops and all) he will probrably end up in stew. He is going to be tough meat, but I have no problem with that. Problem is catching him... he is really the worst roo. I wouldn't even give him away in fear he would attack someone. BTW. He doesn't breed with my hens... not allowed around them, and he is only interested in ducks - which is another reason he should go. He is harrassing them and pulling all their feathers out. The boys too! Arg. It's a shame. He started off bad quality but meek and calm. Then a switch got flipped and he needs to go. I was going to let him live in the non-breeding flocks (there are more than one now... I have got to stop getting more chickens!), but I think the ducks have voted him off the island. Have you ever seen a duck fight? it is more brutal than you'd think. Down right scarey.
Thanks for the input.
