Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Well that would mean he is not to standard, and may pass the trait to his young. It would be your decision. I need to wait until I get better stock, but that is because the kids will show them at the fair and we cannot risk the disqualifications.

Cyn, if a 14 pound Delaware had the correct form and type, would the size matter? I am mulling this around in my head- I guess I don't know enough about chickens, but I would have thought that if the shape, conformation, whatever was still the correct outline, then how large a Del was wouldn't get in the way of the SOP. Maybe I still am thinking horses too much!

Thanks he loves them! Yeah the green tail puzzled me and he doesn't have barring but solid black stripes in the neck area.I was thinking he's not even a Delaware??? Or just not even what we want anyhow.Might make him into soup then.Hoping speckedhen has some eggs for us to hatch?!

Sounds like maybe your describing a columbian patterned bird. Beings this is a Delaware pic. thread, maybe you could take two or three pics of him at different sides and angles and post them on the What Breeds section. I'm sure one or two maybe more of the BYCers on here could probably give you a good idea or even a definate answer to what breed or possible cross he may be.

Nice looking girls in the picture you have there.

Well yes it is Dellie mind control and underlying plans on world domination...we must give them everything they want.

How is superchick doing since the last report?

So the TV show should have been called "D" instead of "V"?????? Sneaky little birdies!

Superchick is the same today- still breathing faster than everyone else, but eating and seemingly content. I cleaned a little pasty butt off him last night, but it wasn't plastered over his little opening, just below it. He did NOT like that - I just wish I knew of a way to help him. I don't think he is in pain - thank you for asking- the little guy needs good thoughts and prayers sent his way. Thank you for asking!
Why am I assuming it's a "he"? I always refer to him as a him.
I have one little escape artist who climbed all the way up my sweatshirt sleeve to my shoulder before I could blink- several with nicely developing wing feathers and one with some tail feathers coming in!!! DH promised to get a picture tonight of the bundle that likes to sit in my hand and try to crawl and help me learn to post it. I am computer illiterate, camera illiterate, and stereo illiterate. However, I am learning.

Beth,
Tell me, are you as surprised as I was, at how much more friendly this breed is than others? I am still surprised!

I currently have one seperated from the rest. I noticed a spot of blood on this ones butt. Sure enough, it has been picked at. I think I caught it early on, so hope a day or two away will be sufficient to heal it. I suppose it had a spot of poo or even feed stuck on, and someone decided to pick at it! Silly birds!

Oh, you are technologically challenged as well??? Ha, join the club! I was just thrilled when I learned how to take pictures on the digital camera, and put them onto/into the computer! LOL

Here are some of my chicks. They are 4-5 weeks old now. There is an easter egger or jersey giant here and there, too.

Some of them have lots of color. I don't know what they will end up looking like.

The younger ones are so nice. They come over when I put my hand down. I guess it was all the grubs I hand fed them when they were a week old. They do love grubs! It's like a shark feeding frenzy in the coop when I bring grubs in.
