Well, I did finally get some work done today! My Del babies are going outside to their new home tomorrow. I've had a chat with them, and after all the whining and crying, they did accept it. I had to promise to come outside to play in their new coop, when I get home at night (midnight, yeah right). LOL
The feedstore called me today. They had a grandpa in, and he was looking for a rooster for his grandson for Christmas. All the grandson wants for Christmas is a rooster and an incubator. He has 14 hens. So, the story goes, Grandpa went to a guy that carves decorations out of tree trunks. He had the guy carve out a rooster. He took it to the grandson. .... yea, you know where this is going .... The grandson cried! That brings us to the present. Feedstore recommended me. The guy calls and within 30 minutes came out to visit. DH gave him the grand tour (LOL). Grandpa bought 2 roosters, and asked if he could bring the grandson out to visit one day. Now, the good part ..... Grandson is SIX years old! I was crackin' up. I thought sure it would be a teenager or older.
Anyway, on with my day .... I got rid of all my hatchery stock. The older lady picked them all up today. Now, what I have left .... some lonely, sad roosters! The 2 Christmas roosters (Ricky RIR, and Rupert Cuckoo Marans) are still here. Grandpa will pick them up closer to Christmas. Then, I still have Obama (BEAUTIFUL mutt) and Baby (Polish Crested). I did keep my 5 Easter Eggers (hens), and 1 Cuckoo Marans (Shirley) that ran and hid during our escapade of catching chickens! The roosters are a mess. They were running here and there, calling the girls frantically. It's a lonely coop tonight! Tomorrow will be more of a shock to them .... cuz they are movin' to the bachelor's pad, to make way for the next group of (soon to be) layers.
DH made me a couple more electical outlets. So, now, everyone has electricity for the water heaters. The Silkies were very happy!
And, how was your day ??????
