Catdaddy- I know. They are the sweetest birds- I love mine- although mine are still miffed at me for putting them on the nasty, cold, wet ground Sunday. Buckshot, Alice, Lizzie and Rejectable Roo#1 still come to the door for love, but the others just quietly give me the suspicious stink eye or ignore me entirely, and Ultrasuede tries to hide in the back behind everyone else. I guess, if it's nice tomorrow, I will just open it up and let whoever wants to jump out do so, and if the rest want to put up with me cleaning the coop with them in it, they can. Gosh, I didn't think my feelings would be hurt, but they are. . . .
Maybe they will forgive me if I give them a big plate of scrambled egg.
Cynthia, I thought that's what those hackles were. They probably don't molt out, do they? I don't mind the hen, it's Lizzie, one of my favorites, and she can stay and lay eggs, but the two roos are SO sweet and I would love to find them good homes. The question is, how do we find them good homes when they aren't up to breeding standard? Just hope to find someone with a mixed flock who might want to add a little depth and maybe egg laying ability to their flock? BTW, I love the pic of Isaac looking up to see what you are up to, while the girls are all busy eating away-
Germaine, if I remember correctly, the SOP pics of the Dels shows that line of black peeking out under the wing. I LOVE how the hens are marked, with the black tail feathers and that little bit of black on the wing, like a woman's fancy slip just barely showing. . . .
