Hi all- I am a little stiff from all the work that has been going on in my garden lately. Sorry to all that still have snow on the ground, or extreme cold. I honestly am not trying to rub it in, I just wanted to share my good weather with you.
Mrs AK-BIRD BRAIN- In your case you might want to try some extra protien. If they are eatting the feathers, that is a protien defficency. I also know that Marans need a little extra. They are a heavy bird and sometimes heavier birds need a little extra. Is it still bad weather were you live? You might want to let them free range if you can. If not maybe a half a head of lettuce to give them something to do.(along with the protein) Scrambled eggs, catfood, worms, meat or whatever you have on hand. A meat will stay with them longer just to let you know. I hope that helps.
Cyn- I am so sorry for what is happening in your Dellie flock. I would hate to have to choose. I wish I had some words of wisdom for you, in return for all that you have given me. I do however want to tell you, there is a video on AI on youtube that is very interesting. The girl makes it look so easy! Good luck with Issac!
Urbanfarmboi- Iam sorry I forgot to answer your question. It is not a big garden. I am currently changing around the beds. 2 large beds about 10x 18each, 1 square bed 9x9, then I added a strawberry bed and a triangle shaped bed that I will be putting squash and zucchini in. I will post pictures of it when I get it all done. Right now it is still alot of weeds!
So, my strawberries went in this morning , about 50 of them. We are working on a hinged top to keep the chickens out. Then I need to finish weeding so I can start on my tomato rows. My seedings will be ready to trans plant soon. My dellie eggs are still doing great. Today is only day 4. I might just candle them sooner then the 7 days. Gosh I am so excited about these little boogers. Talk to you later.
