Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

I'd like to dry out some day... nine rescue pups and chicks that need to learn to forage!!! Stupid weather.

Maybe I can takes pics of some of the bigger feather monsters later today... gah it's so wet here I could scream.

I think my Dels would about eat each other if I had to pen them up. I'm letting em run, regardless of the weather. As it is some of the Guineas have pulled the crests out of the two new Silkie cockerals, sigh. They look really stoooopid bald.

TACEY- you have given me spring fever!!!

Scott, yes, again, YAY!!!!

Cetawin, I LOVE the pic of Thor all ruffled up- got a question for you- when did his comb get big? I am waiting for Ultrasuede's to get big- the Dellie boys all have bigger combs now, and Ultra's is not really developing.

The sun is shining today and should tomorrow and Saturday, too, so maybe some of this yuckie snow will melt.

Kathy, are they losing the smut on their backs?

Laney, you are a hoot- I can just see Biden swinging away, wondering if he will ever see the world right side up again!

Cyn, when you feed the canned salmon and mackerel, do you look for low sodium brands or does it matter?

Catdaddy, can you let me know if you see yours totally molting out the smut?

Smut. I am obsessed with it right now.

Hope you all have a glorious day-

Cher, what exactly do the rescue pups forage for?

..... I got my first dark egg today! I happened to be in the coop at the time, and saw the little 24 week old Blue Marans pullet jump up on the nest, and lay her egg! Do ya wanna see it?

OK .... back on topic ....
Those silly Dellies would not come outside! They messed around inside the boat barn (now called breeder barn, and isn't even a barn!

) I tried taking 3 of them out, but they weren't having anything to do with that! Nope, they went right back inside. Since I don't have their pop door in yet, they have to walk down the center "isle," to the door to go outside. No deal .... they weren't impressed with the sunshine at all. Oh well, I'll just keep trying. I know they will love it, once they become accustomed.

Cetawin- hmmmm- Ultrasuede's comb at 14 weeks looks like Thor's at 8 weeks, and not a whole lot bigger than Athena's - but he ruffles his neck feathers and takes on the Dellie roos , so maybe it's just slow to develop- I will see if I can get some pics tomorrow-

Your kids look SO happy today - and I LOVE Thor's tail feathers- take care of that cut! That looks like it hurts!

Cynthia, do you know anyone who gets the Poultry Press and doesn't feed Purina?- there is a Purina coupon in it- $5.00 off two bags or something like that.

QUESTION: If I want to sell my two Del roos with the brown beaks and Columbian hackles, how much should I ask? One is larger than the other, both have very nice personalities at this point.

Beth, before Draco turned into a butthead this morning with me, I had him and Sirius listed at $10. They are EE mutts but I wanted to try to sell them for pets so I am asking $10. Your roos are Delawares but not "Delaware looking" correct for breeding right? How old are they now? If they are with Ultrasuede's group I would say $5 - $10 each would get them sold...someone wanting a nice flock rooster or a delaware rooster would pay more I am sure.

Hopefully Cyn will give you some informed input.

Depends on your market, Beth. I could maybe get $5-10 for each pure Delaware, but if they're culls, I'd go more for the $5 to move them. The last two I had I actually gave them to a man who wanted both of them and informed him that they were a bit feisty for my taste, but I also didn't need them. Lady at the feedstore once sold a Lt. Brahma cockerel for me and got $15 for him.

I don't know anyone who has Poultry Press to get any coupons. I actually got $6 off the two bags so was pleased with that deal today, but I rarely buy feed there.
