At what age do you start to see red in the comb of your Del roos? I've got a chick who is about 5 wks and it has some red. Or is it just my imagination. I'll try to get better pics.

I've never had Roo chicks, my first chicks were all pullets

Tim- congratulations on your egg! I don't know what the average is for Delawares- at least three of mine are laying now at basically 19 weeks, but I appear to be early compared to others.

Rancher Hicks- he is a handsome boy- look at that leg color!!

Hang in there Kathy, neither of mine laid untill 24 weeks...almost 25 weeks.

Was in town looking for garden seed. Went to the oldest feed store in town and found sexed Delaware pullets "Very rare! $4.75 each". They're from Ideal.

ZERO! No more hatchery birds for me, especially Delawares. I'm out of the Delaware biz anyway.

I went to the feedstore yesterday to pick up some food... they had Delaware babies in the back. I ooh-ed and aaw-ed over them, but I didn't take any home. I've got at least 15 in the incubator due around April 1st, no more hatchery Dells for me either! Thanks to Cyn!
