Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Morning all....

Seems to be "the season" here as well. There was a black rock girl in the nest box at bedtime last night and she is STILL there this morning. I just let the others out to free range to "tempt" her but she is sitting tight. Guess I need to rush up getting a broody pen finished. Fortunately I started one on a whim this past weekend.

Beth, I'm fighting the "shell-less egg syndrome" here as well. I wonder if it could be a genetic thing like the dwarf chick issue. I've gone from getting a "soft shelled" egg to getting an egg with no shell at all. Oh well....whoever it is still appears healthy so I guess I'm not gonna stress

Off to see a few customers

Y'all have a great day

Hey Cetawin, glad you got your ducks and chickens to range together. Ours do it all the time along with our guineas as well. We don't ever have a problem. They usually stick to their own kind though. As they say.....Birds of a feather.....

Will probably be having baby mutt chicks and ducklings soon. Have 1 broody chicken and 6 broody ducks

Unfortunately I don't have any dellie eggs under any of them

Hopefully that will change soon

Well the grass is finally green here in Michigan. All the neighbors are getting the lawnmowers out for the first time and attacking all the dandylions. We went for 40-50* days to 80* days overnight. Crazy weather, but the girls seem to be enjoying it.

Want to move in Cyn? We could get another coop delivered cause you have to bring Suede, Ike, Zane and well all of them. Those mean ole Dellies might be trouble but I will confine their butts to solitary.

Speaking of mean Dellies, I just smacked Fattie. I did the whole lifting her off the ground and pushing her away when I was feeding grapes to everyone and the little toerag grabbed my thumb, held on and bit, ripping right through thecorner of my cuticle and the side of my thumb. I smacked her one and she gave me the major stink eye. Then I gave everyone else grapes but her

Now mind you everyone else, including Cannonball was standing there waiting patiently for their grape but not Fattie. She has always been nippy but she bit this time. So...no grapes or blueberries for her today.

Look at this pic of my boy...I came around the corner and could not see him so I yelled Thor, Buddy come here and he came running around the corner to me, when he saw me kneeling on the ground he knew I had something so he came in ubber close to see what I had for him. LOL

He is so gentle when he takes food from my hand UNLIKE Fattie...my girls are very careful too UNLIKE Fattie. yes she is on my crapola list today. When you draw blood you go on my list. LOL

I heard a strange purring coming from the coop yesterday morning. I had cleanned everything really well that day. I looked in and my hugh Stormy was on the poop board tucked down under the roost with three of his favorite hens. He is a romancer for sure. He could not even get out quick enough to prevent me from giving him some loving too. LOL:eek::eek: emagine his shock. He may be hugh but is so gentle to his ladies. The purring was the sweetest sound I have ever heard him make to them.

I wish my boys were romancers!!! They are rude, and the girls don't like it, and are figuring out how to squirm out from underneath them and run. How do you teach a roo to be Antonio Banderas or someone like that?

I know...I just love it. Everytime I look at his eyes I think of Suede. Gosh I cannot wait to hug that big blue tank.... mere weeks away and I can do it.

Beth I am not sure how to make a roo Cassanova but I know some of my girls do not like Thor and ignore his dancing and advances...he has thunked several on the head as they go by. LOL But he is relatively sweet with HIS girls. He does not mate Cannonball often and only when she squats for him...he has never forced his affections on her like he will the bigger girls. I am not sure why he is the way he is or does the things he does....they are such individuals aren't they?

There is a poll attached on what I should do with this child of mine and her IPod

There was another option but the forum sensors would not allow me to add "Take and stick it where the sun does not shine" soooooooooo there are only 4 options.
