Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

So what should i do for the customer? or offer nothing more than an apology?

I used to show guinea pigs and they mature faster than chickens and i know you can never predict the outcome of the offspring.
seems to me folks who wish to show will have to do their own breeding to get what they want. the UK is big on shows i think. I'm just to old for it.

Did you tell her they were show quality? Or potential show quality? It would make a difference on how you worded it and some people are very picky.

I personally don't think you need to do anything. Out of a hundred eggs hatched--someone is lucky to get 5% that would be worth showing. There are always culls.

Well, what is the customer's complaint? If you didn't say it would be a, "show quality," bird, then you owe nothing, as far as I can see.

Kathy- you have to see how much the BBS girls have grown- I think they have more than doubled in size- DH just sits and laughs at the drama queens flitting around the run. I will try to get pics this weekend!

I can hardly wait to see the pictures! I will say, those Orps are sure beautiful! I still am shocked that this one I kept (other than Cord) is a girl! I thought sure it was a roo! A big girl, for sure!

Do nothing...if you feel inclined, send customer an email and state clearly that you have never stated your birds were show quality and therefore you did not expect show quality chicks and nor should she/he. If you want to rub it in a bit more...Challenge her to find a show quality delaware in this country...even Isaac as wonderfully gorgeous as he is, has faults. If the customer wants the perfect Delaware I would suggest she do as the rest of us and breed for them because you cannot buy them.

rwoman...you would so be surprised at the non-communicating conversations Cyn and I have...always a chicken or a dog being a twit. we are so over it and used to it we just keep talking and scolding them and get on with it.

Really, in thinking about it, since no one seems to be showing Dels anyway except Delgirl- if you have what we would consider a "pretty good Del"- a chunky one with a 5 or 6 point comb, and good wing set and a tail at the correct angle, why isn't it show quality at this point in time? This breed has just started getting some interest and has just gotten off the critical list, right? I think I would feel OK about showing Cora and maybe Eleanor and Marianne. Luke is too light, but he has a five point comb and is pretty broad and chunky, so why would he not be OK to show AT THIS POINT? I don't quite understand what this person is expecting of Tim's stock at this point in time. (Maybe I missed something)

And I agree, if Tim has not said they are show quality, then he shouldn't be held accountable for whether the buyer thinks they are or not.

now the modifications and such will begin. Probably another week before we can start because of the rain that has moved in.

And I want to show off my Mother's Day giftees (aside from my new Suede babies)... DH bought me a 1904 crock that I wanted for the kitchen (to hold utensils) and Cheyenne bought me a beautiful metal red vase with a rooster painted on it....

Oh those are wonderful LadyHawk. I guess you need to keep them--the DH and daughter that is!!

I would love to hear more phone conversations between you two, that one made my day! I could actually picture you both doing and saying
