We have dellies and rocks. Finally my hen stayed long enough to hatch 6 with my help. Oh one orp in there too. One rock is hidding.

That Norbit is growing up...he is so cute. He has a nice looking comb too...is that 5 pts or 6? Henrietta looks like she can be a mess like my Cannonball.

Well I must post about this...I already called Cyn and told her. My biting Dellie, Fattie is now in my good graces, biting and all. She saved my hide today BIGTIME. YAY FOR MOUTHY DELLIES!

I went walking around my back to check on everyone having spent so much time with getting the new coop in place. Fattie, Cannonball and Thor, followed by Bella and Athena came charging up the incline to greet me. I reached down to pat Cannonball and Fattie bit the snot out of me, drawing blood again. I was about to smack her again when I looked at her just in time to see that she did not bite me to bite...she attacked, caught and ate a huge Black Widow spider. The sucker must have been on my sock and had not made it's way up onto my leg for me to feel her there but Fattie saw her and tagged her, catching the skin just above my sock in the process. However, seeing that big black butt and that nice red hourglass being gobbled up....I could care less about Fattie drawing blood.

I brought Fattie in the house, checked her over, kissed her and fed her special treats....pieces of a glazed donut and some juicy blueberries.

I am so thankful for that biting girl because I have no idea if I would have seen it before it bit me or seen it and caused it to bite trying to get it off of me.

Now, see, Ladyhawk? Kira's mouthy daughter earned her keep (and forgiveness for wounds suffered by you). Good Fattie! Dang, that girl deserves a real name, LOL, but she is a chunk!


Gloria Jean, congrats to you and Misty on those cuties. Wonder if Misty's mom, Smoky, will ever go broody. She was fascinated with the babies with my Nugget, one of them really hers.

Gloria Jean ..... So glad your hatch is over, and quite a success there! I can hardly wait to see my broodies running around here with their babies! I have 3 sitting, due Memorial weekend, or there about.

Cetawin, I am so glad Fattie was there to nip at your leg and eat that little sucker. We have found our share of black widows here too, and it always takes my breath away when I see them. Sorry about the leg nip. Oh, I love the picture with that little black butt sticking up in the air

And I am so glad it is Saturday so I can enjoy the chickens. The weather is wonderful and I may let them free range for the first time. Any suggestions? 8 weeks old.

Today I have to make some changes to the coop as we had our first hard rain, and the coop leaked. Cant be having that for the long run!

Hooray for Fattie the Fierce!!!!! Thank heaven she got that spider- that would have been SO nasty- she is such a pretty girl, too-look at that tail black.

Norbit is VERY handsome- his tail feathers look really good- and that first pullet is nice and chunky already, too.

Gloria Jean, congratulations! Those are precious little sweeties-

Bassleg- I hope every one arrives safely- let us know when you get them!

Countrychickengirl- my Luke went through a period when he nipped at night also- he got over it. I picked him up and carried him around upside down- couple times of that and he is now a perfect gentleman. I think he just got nervous at night about it getting dark, and about his responsibilities in getting everyone in for the night.

Kathy- is that your first choice roo on the pole?
