She may get one some day, though, but he'll have to hatch here or I'll have to buy one from the feed store on Ideal delivery day. Sorry the hatch didn't turn out the way we both hoped.

Silkies are they a breed? I think not they may eat chicken food but that's as far as it goes, the day I get Silkies is the day I go down for the dirt nap.

Just wanted to mention that my Delawares are not snappish on the nest. They chatter a bit, but always let me put my hand under them to check for eggs. Usually, they just duck their heads a bit and raise up for me. Good girls (at least in that regard, LOL) They are also excellent layers.

Fattie does not do that...she sounds like Nugget broody and will take your hand off if she is not ready for you to take the egg just yet.
