I lost Thor today. He was dead in the coop this morning and DD found him. He was lying right in front of the door by the fan that was knocked over. It appears he was victim to the heat and/or a heart attack. There was nothing broken and not a mark on him...he was just lying there with his eyes closed.

I have been beside myself all day and watching my flock totally confused. My Dellie, Cannonball, is not having a good time with it...you know we have never been able to separate her from Thor even though she was far too small for him, she roosted beside him every night. Today she has paced, walked around the house in circle screaming and yelling for him....myself, I have been overwhelmed with crying jags and feel totally lost.

I know he was just a rooster/cockerel but he was so special to me and I know he loved me and would protect me and the girls. He was my "Suede baby" and I am very very heartbroken. I have Suede eggs in the incubator now and hopefully there will be a new flock leader in there but there will not be another Thor.

scbatz33 (Sarah) brought her DH down here to dig a hole for me to bury Thor. I was having trouble getting through the rock and roots...he dug a hole in the stone walled bed in my circle drive for me. So Thor is now resting where he can watch the sun rise in the morning and watch over all of us.

This is going to be a very long night. *sigh*
