Hello All!

I am very new to chickens and have to say that as of yesterday i am now a new Delaware Dad~ I got two beautiful pullets ( hatched 5-1) at an auction . They are alrady sweet and i am able to walk up and pick them up and they follow me around already, very calm and sweet. My point for posting is to say hello to the "Delaware Crowd" and also to see if anyone had advice - egg production- broodiness-mainly any breed specific tips or anything would be greatly appreaciated. As i jsut told someone else I was like a little kid at Christmas this morning - i couldn t WAIT for the sun to come up so i could open the barn and let them explore their new world! They are queen bee's as they have almost two acres securely fenced in to explore. So there i was with a sweatshirt on - sitting in a wet lawn chair - drinking coffee for two hours watching two lucky hens eat and forage - LOL - sad i know.
Thanks in advance for your help~

PS will try to get pics - but so far their heads have not left the ground long enough to get a good pic!

and the Delaware thread! You do understand that you just skipped the frying pan and went straight into the fire with the purchase of your Del girls, right?

Oh boy! Watch out folks! Looks like this guy doesn't do anything by halves!!

You're already under direct Delaware mind control there Ink, as evidenced by the two hours spent in a wet lawn chair with a cup of coffee, just so that you could observe their regal bearing!

Definitely looking forward to pictures of your two princesses. Please post some just as soon as their heads come up. But just a hint...you've got a long wait. Dels are great free rangers! They always have their beaks to the ground!
