Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Any suggestions as to who we should talk to about getting some more Dels? We are in the Pacific Northwest (Eastern Oregon). We have an incubator so eggs would definitely work well. Whitmore Farms was one suggestion we got at the show this weekend. Or we would be willing to pick up adult birds if they are in the northwest. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

I went to the ILL-MO show yesterday. I bought 2 trios of New Hampshires from Doug Akers. Here they are on our trip home...

You know, my Meg is a RIR/Buff Orp cross, but she really has the same general color and look of the NHs you got.

Cynthia, I must say, these birds are brilliant with color .... most magnificent coloring!

In the SOP the color is described as:
Male:
Head: Plumage, brilliant reddish bay.
Neck: Hackle-- lustrous. golden bay. Front of neck-- same as breast.
Back: Brilliant deep chestnut red.
saddle: lustrous, golden bay slightly darker than hackle.
Tail: Main tail -- black.
Sickles-- rich, lustrous, greenish black.
Coverts-- lustrous, greenish black, edged with deep chestnut red.
Lesser coverts-- deep chestnut red.
Wings: Fronts-- medium chestnut red.
Bows-- brilliant deep chestnut red.
Coverts-- deep chestnut red.
Primaries-- upper web, medium red; lower web black edged with medium red.
Secondaries-- upper web, medium chestnut red, having broad black stripe extending along shaft to within one inch of tip; lower web medium chestnut red; shaft, red.
Breast: Medium chestnut red.
Body and fluff: Medium chestnut red.
Legs: Lower Thighs: medium chestnut red.

I got to thinking about this, too. My original plan was to use them to create a new strain of Delawares, and then just use them as layers. OMG, that plan changed the moment I saw them!

So, here is what I am thinking .... for your benefit only, of course ....
When I mate the Barred Rock male with the New Hampshire females, I will just use 2 of the girls. The other 2 girls can stay pure and with their NH mate. Then, I can hatch a little of both. AND, because you are gonna be one of the recipients of these crossings .... you will have a bit of both!
