Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I have looked at the standard but still like to hear what those of you who raise them think.

My roo is very friendly with me, all of them are... feeding them mealworms while brooding helps make them think I'm mom.

He is attentive to his hens but I haven't seen protective. All my breeds were all in a big group for a while and the 2 older Buckeye roos ruled the roost. They were chasing him away from the food and he was wise not to challenge them. They are fine with me but badly bloodied up my Dorking roo at one point.

Now, I have the Delawares separated and the roo gets to regain his dignity.

This thread has so many posts! I'm going backwards to read them. Love all the cute chick pics! Am envious of the tail on Rexxor the Sexxor

I have to ask if I am missing a private joke regarding Jeremy's hen??? That is one barn sized body! Where did she come from and do you have chicks available from her for sale? Was she the one at the show in Stockton?
Nice to meet you all!

Kim

Ooops, sorry. Walt Leonard (fowlman01) is the chairman of the APA SOP committee. He joined us here on BYC a few months back. He has helped alot of us tremendously with breeding tips and what to look for. One thing that is important in breeding, he taught us, is to, "build the barn before you paint it." Meaning, look at type, shape, body size, etc, rather than the feather coloring. Jeremy doesn't like construction. He likes to paint.

And I like to tease him.

Y'all want to know the funniest thing about that hen... she's a hatchery girl.

It is a muddy mess here. None the less, some of the grow outs went outside to enjoy the 55* weather today.
I took too many pictures, too..... This is my oldest group of grow outs. I have a few younger groups, too. These are 9 - 10 weeks old.
