Ahh.. ok.. that's what I thought..

Do you happen to have any photos of when they were chicks?.. ie: between 3-8 weeks of age..

Reason being.. is I'm working on identifying shank variations in color expression in Delawares and what all factors(genetics) come into play.

Oh okay. that's an interesting topic. but No, I don't have them any more. Sorry.

When you get to the point that you're going to hatch chicks. If you can.. mark eggs from each pullet.. keep the ones form the "lighter/dingy" shanked pullet seperate if possible..
There is a reason... lol

I'll be interested to see what you get in your hatches if you can do that.

Yes.. you're a couple of months before you should be trying to hatch eggs. once you get to that point. Remind me of what you have and what you're doing.. for you it shouldn't be that big of a deal. what you get from your "good shanked" pullets is going to determine what's in your roo..

And I am kicking two of my five Dells out of the nest boxes several times a day. They even managed to collect eggs from other nest boxes (and break some in the process)!

I looked again at that pullets shanks. I think it was just the lighting in the picture, because at least yesterday, it looked just as yellow as the others. I will def keep an eye on it though. The reason i said it did have that dingy yellow is because I saw the same thing in the pic as you did.

Will keep you posted via text or pics

As they get older it will become harder to tell. If the hen does have lighter shanks, you'll be able to tell pretty easily when you hatch chicks and they get about 2-4 weeks old.. it will be obvious at that age.

Seeing color on online 72dpi pics is not very reliable.
